Colored Chalkboards
(Via Elsiecake)
I got crazy excited when I saw that you can create your own custom colors. Martha Stewart is a genious. She recommends that you use latex paint, but I tried it out with acrylic paints with much success. Here's how you too can create your own chalkboard paint...
Supplies: 1/2 cup acrylic paint (choose any color you like, or mix colors together to make the perfect shade!), 1 tablespoon unsanded grout (About $12) (this can be purchased at most hardware/home improvement stores, we got ours at Home Depot), mixing cup or bowl, spoon, paint brush and an object or board you plan to paint on.
Once
your chalkboard has fully dried be sure to slate the surface before using it
for the first time. To slate a chalkboard lightly rub chalk along the surface
and then lightly rub it off.

1.
Measure out your paint and grout. The unsanded grout is a fine powder so be
sure to work in a well ventilated area.
2.
Stir the grout into the paint until no lumps remain. 3. Paint your surface with
your new custom chalkboard paint! The paint will begin to harden once it is
mixed, so only mix what you need at one time as it won't store as well as other
paints.

From Me to You

Hey Soul Sister
My Beloved spoke and said to me "Rise up my love, my fair one and come away. For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come. And the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land." Song of Songs 2:10-12
Certain people play particularly important roles in my life. My sister Kasi, plays the happiness role. I find that no matter what my circumstances are, she is the source of tons of my smiles.
She makes me happy by being happy herself.
This weekend, my sister drove 8 long hours to see me.
So for this one weekend
I got to have her
all to myself
the weather was beautiful
the food was good
Laundry day was the new shopping day
Friday was the new Saturday
"Whoever is merry and cheerful has always a good reason for so being, namely the very fact that he is so. Nothing can so completely take the place of every other blessing as can this quality, whilst it itself cannot be replaced by anything. A man can be young, handsome, wealthy an esteemed; if we wish to judge of his happiness, we ask weather he is cheerful."
"I vow to find reasons to find things funny. Laughter is more than just a pleasurable activity. It is the source of social bonding."
I observed more happiness this weekend from her than she probably even knows. I hate that this weekend has to end. Love you so much.
